First Time Competitors, the CW Enactus Team Are Awarded Rookies of the Year

CWs Enactus TeamThe College of Westchester (CW) Enactus team participated for the first time and was awarded “Rookie of the Year” at the Enactus United National Exposition regional competitions in Washington, D.C. Enactus is an international organization that connects student, academic and business leaders through entrepreneurial-based projects that empower people to transform opportunities into real, sustainable progress for themselves and their communities.

Jimmy Hernandez, CW Enactus team member stated, “Competing in the 2016 Regional Competition was a great experience, and the start of a new beginning for The College of Westchester Enactus team.” CW students presented their projects and were evaluated by business leaders serving as judges who ranked them on how successful they were at using business concepts to improve the quality of life and standard of living of those in need.

The students were accompanied by CW Faulty moderator, Professor Paulo Cancro who celebrated the joyous victory with her team. The team and Professor Cancro were later congratulated by President Mary Beth Del Balzo on behalf of the entire CW family.

SWEDISH INSTITUTE SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST STUDENTS WIN 2016 STUDENT SCRUB BOWL

SICHCOn April 15, 2016 Swedish Institute participated in the Student Scrub Bowl, an annual event that was won in 2015 by Onondaga Community College. The event was held at Niagara Community College, just a few steps away from the thundering waters of Niagara Falls. This is a scholastic competition among various CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited Surgical Technologist programs.

The competition consisted of two rounds, and 70 questions. Colleges were judged based on the amount of points they were able to accumulate within a specified period of time. At the end of the event, the students of Swedish Institute had earned first place honors! Swedish was represented by three students: Marc Isenhart (team captain), Stephen Miller, and Charnu Sriudom. The faculty advisors were Hazelyn Bernardino and Maria Sebastian. In addition, several other faculty and students of the college attended to provide support to the team.
