Berkeley College Online one of the First to be Certified Worldwide for Excellence by the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA)

Cortes, PhD, President of Berkeley College, is pleased to announce that Berkeley College Online has received Quality Standards (QS) certification for excellence from the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA). Berkeley College is one of the first colleges or universities worldwide to receive this certification. Institutions that receive USDLA/QS certification have been evaluated using 124 standards that focus on the areas of administration; leadership and management; student affairs; and teaching and learning. Certification is awarded for a five-year period, subject to performance and annual renewal.

SVA Alum Jonathan Bean Wins Award for Excellence in Children’s Literature

The five years that his parents spent building a house about 30 years ago has just paid off.

Jonathan Bean, 34, a children’s book author and illustrator from Harrisburg, has won the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for Excellence in Children’s Literature for his picture book “Building Our House.”

The book’s inspiration comes from his family’s experience, when Bean was a toddler,  building a timber-frame style house in which wooden pegs were used  to connect the joints.

Visual Merchandising Students Will Display Their Skills in the DDI Student Window Challenge at Saks Fifth Avenue

Top finishers will receive a mentorship with the Saks window team

Six LIM College students will participate in the DDI Student Window Challenge, a design competition presented in cooperation with Saks Fifth Avenue. The daylong event, which will be held on June 6 directly inside Saks Fifth Avenue’s 49th Street windows at the flagship store in Manhattan, will give Visual Merchandising students from LIM College and the Fashion Institute of Technology a highly visible platform to show off their skills and creativity. At stake is an opportunity for the competition’s top finishers to gain even more firsthand experience through a mentorship with the Saks window team.

Berkeley College Midtown Gallery Launches Two New Exhibits

berkeleyBerkely College, with campuses in Manhattan, Brooklyn and White Plains, will present two new exhibits at its New York City Midtown Gallery. The Sandra Gottlieb exhibit and the Sunjoy Jeergall exhibit will run from June 3-28.
